A New Era In Transportation at Our Gates!

The Israeli transportation world is rolling towards a change!
Starting today, a faster, easier road, that offers you
better and calmer travel conditions, just as you found
throughout the world has opened its gates. Highway 6,
the first electronic toll road in Israel started rolling.
A new era begins today in the Israeli transportation system.

Highway 6
A pleasure to meet!

Highway 6 is a central traffic route in Israel that offers faster passage from the north
to the south and vice-versa. Highway 6 is more convenient than any existing road in
Israel. It is faster, thanks to its high maintenance level and it offers better traffic flow,
thanks to the technological ability to detect traffic problems and resolve them.

Highway 6 offers an alternative travel route, east of the existing two primary
longitudinal routes in Israel: Highway 4 (Geha Road) and Highway 2 (the Coast Road).
The section from Kessem Interchange to Ben-Shemen Interchange of
Highway 6 serves as a by-pass of Gush DAN area.

The Highway will be opened in stages, until 2004. Once the main section is
completed, Highway 6 shall span 86 km, from Eiron Interchange in the north to Sorek
interchange in the south. The highway passes through 10 interchanges, 2 tunnels of
about 500m each, 100 km of roads and about 90 bridges. Travel through this
highway shall provide convenient access to the periphery and reduce travel times.

The Leading Corporations Behind Highway 6

Derech Eretz Highways (1997) Ltd., the concessionaire, received the concession
from the state of Israel to construct and operate Highway 6. The company is owned
jointly by 3 famous and renowned groups in Israel and abroad in the construction,
infrastructure and development sector:
Housing and Construction
Africa Israel
And Canadian Highways Infrastructure Corporation the original constructor and operator of
Highway 407, the first electronic toll road in Canada.

Derech Eretz Operator was established for the purpose of operating the
highway, according to the Concession Agreement. This company is owned by the
three aforementioned companies and by Alon.
Derech Eretz Operator is responsible for marketing the highway, its operation
and maintenance. The routine operations performed to maintain the high standards
of the road and its systems, include, road maintenance, control tests and fault
repairs, traffic diversion, traffic lights control and more.

Highway 6, an Electronic Road, according to International Standards.
Highway 6 is an innovative and advanced electronic toll road. Unlike other roads in
Israel, Highway 6 is not financed by taxpayers money. It is financed by private
investment. Hence drivers are required to pay for driving through it. The toll enables
us to maintain the road's quality and to create an enhanced travel experience, of an
yet unmatched quality in Israel, to provide high-level service to drivers and effective
control of the traffic flow.

The payment method, designed to allow free traffic flow, is very easy and most
effective: Instead of building toll booths at which, you the driver will have to stop and
pay, we constructed toll gates along the road, which contain systems that identify the
passing vehicles automatically, without requiring the vehicle to stop.

Rates and Payment Options

Pursuant to the State's decision to approve construction of Highway 6 as a toll road,
it legislated a "Toll Road Law" and regulations. This law and the Concession
Agreement regulate the travel pricing method, the payment methods and the
permitted enforcement activities in the event of non-payment. Travel rates on
Highway 6 are lower than most toll roads in the world. The price is determined
according to the number of sections the driver passes. Travel up to 3 sections is
billed at a minimum price rate and travel of 5 or more sections is billed for 5 sections
only. Different toll rates are set for motorcycles, cars and trucks. Any non-registered
user's vehicle, that will travel on the road shall be billed according to the
photographed license plate. The invoice shall be mailed to the address of the vehicle
owner as it is registered in the Ministry of Transportation records.
